The Story

Okan is unlike most other Japanese restaurants in London – a tiny canteen tucked into Brixton Village that brings a genuine slice of downtown Osaka to South London, right down to the sizzling open kitchen.

What To Order

Okonomiyaki – the savoury Osaka-style pancake the restaurant takes its name from – is the dish to order, cooked in full view on the open griddle rather than out of sight in a back kitchen.

Good To Know

The small, canteen-style room leans into the informal, sizzling energy of an Osaka street kitchen rather than a polished restaurant setting, and has built a genuinely strong following in Brixton Village as a result.
