The Story

Lobo Rojo has been a fixture of the Tynemouth coastal dining scene, serving authentic Mexican street food and Californian-inspired dishes from a relaxed, dog-friendly restaurant and bar on Clifford Street. It built its reputation on the North Shields Fish Quay before this Tynemouth site became its main home.

What To Order

The wider Lobo Rojo group went through a company restructure in 2026, but the Tynemouth restaurant has continued trading throughout under the same name and ownership team, with its full menu of tacos, quesadillas and margaritas unaffected — reflected in a strong 4.5-star average from 650 reviews.

Good To Know

A 4.5-star average across 652 reviews makes LOBO one of the best-reviewed Mexican restaurants in this guide.
