The Story

Don’t let the modest corner-restaurant setting fool you — Fuochi is widely regarded as one of the finest Neapolitan pizzerias in Newcastle, and the kind of place that locals are quietly delighted hasn’t been discovered by everyone yet. Run by Italians and rooted firmly in tradition, the kitchen uses slow-fermented dough proved for 48 to 72 hours, fired in a wood-burning oven at over 500°C, and topped with carefully sourced Italian artisanal ingredients including San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella.

What To Order

The menu is focused and confident — red and white base pizzas, a handful of excellent starters like deep-fried burrata and a tagliere of Italian cured meats, and Sicilian cannoli to finish. Walk-in tables are kept available downstairs if you can’t book, and the upstairs restaurant has a warmth that makes it feel like a proper occasion. If you’re after the most authentically Italian pizza experience in Newcastle, Fuochi is the answer.
