Liverpool Thai Restaurant Guide
Rosa's Thai, Royal Albert Dock
Housed within a Grade I listed former warehouse, Rosa’s Thai Liverpool was the restaurant group’s very first venture outside of London, and its location in the impressive Royal Albert Dock — with original open brickwork and huge arches looking out onto the docks — makes it one of the most atmospheric dining rooms in the city. Since opening its doors in Spitalfields 14 years ago, Rosa’s Thai has served over 1.4 million Pad Thais, and the Liverpool restaurant carries the same commitment to Saiphin Moore’s family recipes and frequent inspiration from Thailand that made the brand a national favourite.
The menu has plenty of choice for all tastes, from hot and spicy stir-fries to mild and mellow curry dishes, and the open theatre kitchen and mezzanine level — perfect for events and private dining with up to 40 covers — add to the sense of occasion. The iconic Pad Kra Prow is the dish to order on a first visit, and the Thai iced tea cocktail and Mango Boba Colada are worth exploring alongside the food.

The Legacy Thai Food, Aigburth
The Legacy Thai Food is a charming family-run restaurant on Aigburth Road in Liverpool, celebrated for its authentic Thai cuisine — with diners regularly praising the rich flavours, generous portions, and warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like an inviting experience from the moment you walk in. The menu draws on cherished family recipes and Northern Thai tradition — with dishes like Khao Soi Gai, a rich coconut curry broth with chicken drumsticks served over egg noodles and topped with crispy noodles, that rarely appear on menus elsewhere in the city.
Reviewers consistently describe it as one of the best, if not the best, Thai restaurant in Liverpool — praising the food as superb, authentic and flavourful, with a good selection of dishes you don’t get to see often. The house-infused gins — lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chilli — are a delightful touch, and the handmade duck spring rolls with homemade hoisin sauce and sweetcorn fritters with red curry paste make exceptional starters.

Mee, Bold Street
Mee is a vibrant two-level restaurant at 130 Bold Street — the ground floor offering authentic Thai street food, and the first floor showcasing Japanese street food — creating an immersive dining experience reminiscent of bustling markets in Thailand and Japan. The restaurant occupies the Grade II listed Havelock Building, a site steeped in Liverpool’s musical history — formerly home to the Cabin Club, which inspired The Beatles’ song “Don’t Bother Me” — and the open kitchen gives the dining room an energy and transparency that makes every visit feel lively. Signature dishes include Pad Thai, Pad Gra Pao, and grilled beef with spicy dipping sauce.
The two-course set lunch deal — a preposterously generous offer at £12 — is one of the best value meals on Bold Street, and the room itself — with its glass frontage looking onto the Bombed Out Church and the bustle of Renshaw and Berry Street — is one of the most characterful dining spaces in Liverpool city centre.

Spice Thai, Fleet Street & Baltic Market
Spice Thai is located at 5–7 Fleet Street, just above the Motel Bar — a cosy, Thai-themed restaurant approximately 30 metres from Hanover Street and a short walk from Liverpool Central Station and Concert Square, sitting right in the heart of Liverpool’s nightlife and surrounded by the most popular bars and nightclubs in the city. Liverpool’s first Thai street food restaurant, Spice Thai now operates from three locations including Bold Street, Castle Street, and a stall inside the Baltic Market — which makes it one of the most accessible Thai kitchens in the city regardless of where you find yourself.
The kitchen prepares only authentic Thai dishes using fresh ingredients and exotic herbs and vegetables sourced directly from Thailand, and the prices are consistently some of the most affordable of any Thai restaurant in Liverpool city centre. The Fleet Street original is the best spot for a sit-down meal; the Baltic Market stall is ideal for an informal lunch or a street food evening in one of Liverpool’s most vibrant social spaces.

Matou, Pier Head
Boasting an unmatched waterfront location, Matou is one of the most romantic Thai restaurants in Liverpool — situated on the second floor of the Mersey Ferry Terminal at Georges Parade Pier Head, with breathtaking views of the River Mersey and the Wirral Peninsula beyond. The combination of water views, warm décor and a considered Thai menu makes it an exceptional choice for a special occasion dinner — and a restaurant that genuinely earns its setting rather than coasting on it.
The Weeping Tiger — marinated grilled beef served with a spicy tamarind dipping sauce — is a long-standing signature and one of the most popular dishes on the menu. Drunken noodles, prepared with wide rice noodles, fresh chilli, garlic, egg and Thai basil, are another favourite worth ordering. The Pier Head location also makes Matou a natural choice for a meal before or after a Mersey Ferry crossing or a visit to the nearby Liver Building and waterfront attractions. For atmosphere and riverside views, it is the most distinctive Thai restaurant in Liverpool.

Ayuthaya, Crosby
Owners Kris and Thanita started their Thai food business with Thai 2 Go — the first Thai takeaway in the Sefton area — before opening Ayuthaya to offer fine Thai dining in the heart of Crosby town centre. The chefs studied Thai cooking at Bangkok University and worked in some of the finest hotels in Thailand, and that pedigree is evident in a menu that goes well beyond the Thai restaurant standard — lamb shank massaman curry, Samrot sea bass, and a pandan chicken starter that consistently draws praise.
The 54-cover venue combines traditional Thai touches with sophisticated modern décor, and the mixed starter platter — prawn toast, chicken satay, pandan chicken and spring rolls — is one of the most generous and well-executed in the area. The deep-fried ice cream and chocolate spring rolls make a memorable finish. Worth the short journey north of the city centre, Ayuthaya is the Thai restaurant that Crosby regulars have been quietly loyal to for years — and for good reason.
